I’ve been wanting to put more meaning behind my work and I thought that I’d make a theme on portraiture - called “Before You Go,”. The idea came to me as I was thinking about a Spotify playlist I made last year whilst going through a rough patch. It’s this idea that life doesn’t always wait for you - to heal, to process changes, to help you understand all the questions you feel you need answers to. I also think it pairs well with this final creative release. Maybe I can finally rest assured that I’ve communicated a mixture of feelings I’ve found hard to express during that time, maybe even now amidst the situation we’re all in. In this series I tried to focus on moments that felt candid and made me feel something, maybe nostalgia or sentiment, melancholy or despondence. I kind of look at it like scenes in a movie, in which you often relate to the protagonist - or antagonist.
“Before you go ... tell me what happened?”
“Do you blame me?”
“Did you hurt?”
“Like keys in a sofa, I lost you..”
“I still can’t find peace.”
